Lighter pasties are a good reason to have a tea party or a snack party at your garden or patio.
These can be done in a big batch and frozen which lasts for about 2 weeks. yay!
FUN FACT – Traditionally these pasties are done in D shape popularly knows as Cornish Pasty.

Notes
*You could replace the veg filling to chicken or any meat filling.
*You could also add in some cheese for the killing.
Ingredients
- Whole wheat flour – 350g
- Baking powder – 1¼ tsp
- Cold butter – 85g
- Olive oil -3 tbsp
- yolk and white separated Egg – 1
- diced Onion – 1
- diced Potato – 2
- diced Carrot – 1
- Peas – 1/2 cup
- chopped coriander – few
- ginger garlic crushed – 1tsp
- Pepper – 2tsp
- Cold water
- Salt
Instructions
- FILLING
- 1. In a medium heated saucepan, add in the oil and once its hot, add in the diced onion, potato, carrot, peas, crushed ginger garlic, salt and cook it for about 8mins with its lid on. (Moisture is contained)
- 2. Make sure the veggies are only half cooked and not completely.
- 3. Add in the pepper and take it off the heat and allow it cool down at room temperature.
- PASTRY
- 1. Mix in the wheat flour, baking powder, cold butter cut into cubes in food processor or in a bowl briefly until the mixture becomes like fine breadcrumbs.
- 2. Add in 5tsp of cold water, oil, egg yolk and mix it until the dough just starts to come together.
- 3. Add 1tsp or half of cold water and gently mix until the mixture comes together and forms a dough.
- 4. Now, make sure there is enough flour dusted on the work surface to roll the dough thin and even. cut into squares.
- 5. Divide the squares into equal pairs.
- 5. Add in the cooled down veg mixture to each square and layer it with another square dough and press it along the sides by sealing it.
- 6. Beat the egg white and brush it on top of the pastry and sprinkle some sesame seeds.
- 7. place it on the baking tray with the parchment sheet and bake it for about 35mins at 180C.
- 8. Once baked, cool it in the cooling rack for 15mins and snack’em.
